The pastoral care of the sick and the homebound is central to the mission of the Church, and central to the mission of Saint Katharine Drexel Parish. Jesus’ words to us are clear – whoever cares for the least among us, is caring for Jesus Himself. Offering the gift of the Eucharist in Holy Communion when visiting the sick and elderly gives them a sense of connection and relationship to the faith community.
We are asking all parishioners to be aware of those in our faith community who may be in need of pastoral care and/or a communion call. Specifically, we ask all parishioners to alert the pastoral staff of any family members, friends and/or neighbors who may be unable to attend Mass, either temporarily or permanently, and who may want to receive a visit and holy communion. Please contact the parish office at 724-209-1370, ext. 404.
There are currently a few Eucharistic Ministers who take communion to the sick and shut-ins of our parish and our community. These ministers often share stories about the connections they have made with those they visit, noting how grateful the recipients of the Eucharist are, and how grateful they are for the fellowship.
